Instructor: Laura Mortensen B.Eng., Curiosity Analysis and Consulting Corp AAP Laura Mortensen is an Accredited Airport Professional and a member of the IAAE Canada Board of Directors. She is an experienced aviation professional with a strong background in safety management systems, quality assurance, project management, engineering, training, and software implementation. She has a B.Eng in Aerospace Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University (formally Ryerson) and brings experience working with large organizations as well small technology start-ups. She is currently President/CEO of Curiosity Analysis and Consulting, an aviation consulting firm focused on data analysis, using a systems approach to align objectives and data, maintain compliance, and increase the efficiency and value of processes. |

Course Description: This half-day advanced SMS workshop will cover the Safety Management System concept of a Hazard Register and the basics of SMS data analysis. Participants will work through creating a hazard register and doing risk assessments. The course will be mainly participatory with minimal lecture time. It is recommended that students have a basic understanding of SMS. |
