The Computer Based Training (CBT) Portion of this course can be accessed with an internet connection, anywhere, at any time. Knowledge Training Format - Computer Based Training (CBT) Because the new GRF subject matter is significantly more complex than the pre-GRF Canadian reporting protocols, training in the new GRF protocols is more easily accommodated in CBT learning format. Course participants can work through the multiple modules at their own pace, measure their progress with Progression Tests for each module and take breaks when they need to. A comprehensive Course Companion Handout provides the foundational reference material and opportunities to take notes. The CBT knowledge portion contains abundant ‘scenario’ material responding to most of the common ‘what if’ questions not addressed in the regulatory or advisory material and passing the Final Knowledge Test ensures that the CP is well armed to tackle the challenges of ‘real-world reporting in ‘snow-fighting’ conditions. Practical Test In addition to the CBT knowledge portion of the course there will be a requirement for review and testing of practical skills associated with operational friction testing. Completing the practical ‘Field Test’ (in-vehicle field work) is required for certification. After adequate time to confirm familiarity with airport equipment such as the inspection vehicle and decelerometer, the practical test will be administered in accordance with procedures and a checklist provided by TTS. Mentoring During the training period the course participant can receive mentoring from knowledgeable and experienced staff at the airport and will be able to access frequent live, online mentoring sessions provided by TTS and hosted by IAAE-Canada. Certification Once all steps are successfully completed a Certificate of Qualification will be issued attesting to course completion and stating compliance with Aeronautics Act requirements.

Background The Canadian version of GRF is very complex compared with pre-GRF aircraft movement surface condition reporting protocols. There are different requirements for different runway configurations, and Canadian GRF overlays the FAA TALPA/ARC reporting protocols on current Canadian pre-GRF reporting requirements. Canadian GRF rules are unique and differ significantly from those of other jurisdictions.
Training Requirement As per the 15th May 2020 amendments to the Aeronautics Act, all runway inspectors (RIs) will have to be trained and certified to file AMSCRs (NOTAMJs / RCRNOTAMs). The new AMSCR-GRF Course Package provides training and certification based on safe and best practice and the requirements of the Aeronautics Act and current Advisory Circulars (ACs) including AC 300-019. This course has been designed and produced over twenty months to provide experienced and novice CPs alike gain and demonstrate the knowledge they need to competently perform Runway Inspector (RI) and to demonstrate their competence, both in the field and through federal government certification.
Course Scope The course is comprehensive and covers all of the subjects addressed in the previous WAMSCR course plus the year-round inspection and reporting requirements for certified airports of all sizes. This training course also fulfills the requirements of non-certified aerodromes wishing to provide the same condition reporting services. Course Description The AMSCR-GRF Recertification Course Package addresses the essential knowledge requirements of the AMSCR-GRF Course Package, including all the elements of CARs regulation 302.418 that require annual reconfirmation, but does not provide all of the in-depth knowledge provided in the full course. This ‘Recert’ course is therefore considerably shorter than the full course and will take the participant correspondingly less time to complete. There is no requirement to complete friction measurement practical testing for this course. Successful completion of the AMSCR-GRF ‘Recert’ Course Package provides an extension of the AMSCR—GRF certification by one year. It can be taken in the first and second years after completing the full course. In the third year the full AMSCR-GRF Course Package must be taken again to maintain certification. If a person has exceeded the period within which the ‘Recert’ course can be taken they must take the full AMSCR-GRF Course Packageto begin the cycle again. Requirement for continuance of AMSCR-GRF Certification Year 1: Complete full AMSCR-GRF Course Package Year 2: Complete AMSCR-GRF Recert Course Package Year 3: Complete AMSCR-GRF Recert Course Package Year 4: Complete full AMSCR-GRF Course Package (three-year cycle repeats) As per the above table, upon first completion of this course, a computer-based training (CBT) ‘certification extension’ certificate is issued confirming continuance of AMSCR-GRF certification for twelve months from the date of the original Certificate of Qualification issued by TTS. Background Although the major impact of the Canadian version of GRF has been the requirement to report runway conditions by thirds for most airports with runways exceeding 6,000 ft with commercial traffic, there are significant changes to aircraft movement surface condition and friction measurement reporting protocols for all other airports.

Course Description The AMSCR-CRO Recertification Course Package addresses the essential knowledge requirements of the AMSCR-CRO Course Package but does not provide all of the in-depth knowledge provided in the full course. This ‘Recert' Course Package is therefore considerably shorter than the full course and will take the participant correspondingly less time to complete. Successful completion of the AMSCR-CRO ‘Recert' Course Package provides an extension of the AMSCR-CRO certification by one year. It can be taken in the first and second years after completing the full course. In the third year the full AMSCR-CRO Course Package must be taken again to maintain certification. If a person has exceeded the period within which the ‘Recert' Course Package can be taken they must take the full AMSCR-CRO Course Package to begin the cycle again. Requirement for continuance of AMSCR-CRO Certification Year 1: Complete full AMSCR-CRO Course Package Year 2: Complete AMSCR-CRO Recert Course Package Year 3: Complete AMSCR-CRO Recert Course Package Year 4: Complete full AMSCR-CRO Course Package (three-year cycle repeats) As per the above table, upon first completion of this course, a computer-based training (CBT) ‘certification extension' certificate is issued confirming continuance of AMSCR-CRO certification for twelve months from the date of the original Certificate of Qualification issued by TTS. Upon second (‘year three' in the table above) completion of this course, a second ‘Certification Extension' certificate is issued attesting to continuance of AMSCR-CRO certification for twelve months from the date of the ‘year two' ‘Certification Extension'. Regulatory and critical regulator-advised (Advisory Circular) updates are included in each course and ‘Recert' Course Package participants are welcome to join online AMSCR-CRO Mentoring sessions.
Course Prerequisites Only those who have achieved one of the following may complete this course: 1. Within one year, successfully completed the full TTS/IAAE-Canada AMSCR-CRO Course Package and be in receipt of a Certificate of Qualification issued by TTS or 2. Within two years, successfully completed the full TTS/IAAE-Canada AMSCR-CRO Course Package and be in receipt of a Certificate of Qualification issued by TTS, plus, within one year of commencing this course, have successfully completed this course
Training Requirement As per the 15th May 2020 amendments to the Aeronautics Act, all runway inspectors (RIs) will have to be trained and certified to file AMSCRs (RSCNOTAMs). The new suite of AMSCR Course Packages provides training and certification based on safe and best practice and the requirements of the Aeronautics Act and current Advisory Circulars (ACs) including AC 300-019. These courses have been designed and produced over twenty months to provide experienced and novice CPs alike gain and demonstrate the knowledge they need to competently perform runway inspections and to demonstrate their competence, both in the field and through certification with federal government requirements.
