Instructor: Gary Colwell, The Loomex Group Gary Colwell is an experienced and accomplished Airport Manager with a strong background in aviation safety and management, with a career spanning 38 years in the safety environment. Gary began his journey as a civilian pilot and navigation officer for the Civil Air Search & Rescue Association (CASARA) and 424 Sqn Search and Rescue, amassing 15 years of flying experience. He spent 6 years as an Airside Safety Officer at The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), where he was responsible for safety compliance and enforcement. Subsequently, he served 3 years as the Safety Management System (SMS) Officer, leading the development, introduction, and operation of the SMS and providing essential training for GTAA employees. Gary was also the Chief of Airport SMS at Toronto Downsview Airport for Bombardier Aerospace for 3 years. Here, he managed the Safety Management System per Transport Canada's requirements and ensured continuous improvement in airport safety processes. Gary also held the position of Safety Management & Regulatory Officer at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Gary is well-versed in Transport Canada regulations, program development, and training. |

Course Description: This two day training session will cover the basics of implementing a Quality Assurance Program as part of a Safety Management System in an airport environment. Participants will learn the regulatory requirements and how to implement a system that meets or exceeds them. It will allow for airport personnel with little to no auditing experience to learn how to conduct an internal audit and address the resulting corrective actions, or for more experienced auditors to pick up some nuances that may improve their auditing effectiveness. This course will also introduce concepts of system design to allow for trending and continuous improvement in processes. |

Course Description: As required by Transport Canada, airport staff involved in wildlife control at an airport must receive training at least every five years. This virtual course is designed for individuals in an airport field role whose duties are related to the airport wildlife management plan. This course meets Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) requirements and provides participants with a certificate and documentation of training. Instructor: Mike Lucking Michael Lucking is the Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Administration at the Region of Waterloo International Airport (CYKF). With over twenty years of progressive experience focused in the field of regulatory compliance for Canadian airports, Mike is passionate about helping airports understand and apply regulations and standards, particularly TP312 and SMS. As a former Transport Canada Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, Aerodromes and Air Navigation, Mike has many years of extensive real-world experience in the evaluation of compliance with multiple Editions of TP312, as well as first-hand experience in he provision of regulatory interpretations related to the CARs and TP312. Following is time with Transport Canada, Mike worked in the private sector, leading and participating in dozens of quality assurance audits and focused TP312 gap analyses and compliance inspection for airport large and small across the country. Mike is familiar with differences between versions of TP312, and also the nuances of standards, particularly how a single word, comme, or intentional us of a slash "I" can change the meaning of a standard. Most of all, Mike feels fortunate to have received incredible mentorship from dedicated TP312 experts, and he wants to take every opportunity to create a better understanding of TP312 amongst the airport community in Canada. |

Participants will receive a high-level introduction to TP312 5th Edition that will help them to navigate the standard and find the information they need to achieve and maintain compliance.
