Todd's professional journey began with Transport Canada as an Air Traffic Controller, where he achieved licensed certification and became an on-the-job instructor for Air Traffic Control trainees. He has served as Airport Duty Manager and Manager of Operations at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority as well as Manager of Emergency Services & Planning at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

Course Schedule:
These sessions will be presented at 1 pm to 4 pm (EST) each day via Zoom Meeting

Participants will be sent course access information via email a few days before the course

Course Description:  This two day training session will cover airport operations and the regulatory environment governing airports. The topics include an overview of: 

  • Airport operation environment 
  • Roles and regulatory and air navigation providers
  • Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), applicable standards, advisory circulars
  • Construction operations 
  • NOTAMs

Learning Outcomes:

  • Navigate, identify and apply regulations/standards to specific airport classifications
  • Identify airfield hazards and deficiencies against appropriate standards
  • Identify conditions with construction or safety planning
  • Identify conditions that require a NOTAM and the process for issuance
  • Identify circumstances that require notification to Transport Canada, Transportation Safety Board and Nav Canada
  • Critical thinking through application of policy, procedure and standards to airport operations
