"I was encouraged to enter the AAE program by my mentor when I entered into airport management. I came from outside industry without an educational background in aviation. Having gone through the program himself, and sat on the board, he knew the program content and networking would help me establish the required knowledge base and resources to start strong. He suggested that the virtues of the program go far beyond knowledge and networking. This could not be more true. Through the process, I’ve not only developed valuable knowledge and connections but experienced the amazement of realizing that people I do not even know yet are prepared to help me achieve.

Ultimately I pursued the designation for several professional reasons. Firstly, my view is that holding the designation inherently speaks to positive traits as a professional such as a growth mindset and perseverance in the face of discomfort. Secondly, the process highlighted where my strengths and opportunities lie. This is valuable knowledge no matter what my ultimate career goals are."
